Keeping fit and healthy is easy with Groupon

Summer is over for two months. I hope you did not gain any weight from eating those delicious summer foods like the meat on the grill.  They are easy to cook but so unhealthy. I loved the fresh fruits the most. My family was so active as well. We spent our time outside especially swimming in our pool. My kids were so tan during the summer.

Sometimes my husband and I were both working during the days. We have to make sure that the kids have healthy food ready in the fridge once they get hungry. Luckily my kids were fit during the summer days.

I missed working out since I have worked. I missed my hula hoop the most but walking is my best work out especially during work. I lost count how many steps I made. One thing I wish is to have this watch that I found in Groupon Goods. It will help you track anything from heart rate the most.

Have you have a weight goal this year? I know it is not too late to start, right? Why not search the site for any fitness accessories and saves you money. You can also check their Facebook or Twitter for more social activities.

Where to keep your CDs organize

It is either you are working out or meditating, you need a studio rack like this to keep your work out CDs neat. You can also keep CDs from your favorite singers. I needed this myself. I wish I have a room in the house where I can keep all my stuff. I am sure working out is much easier when you can see the CDs right away to keep your routine smooth. Have you order one for yourself?

No cavity for this Mama

Though I hate going to the dentist every four months, I have no choice but to go. Having a beautiful teeth is not only important but healthy gums as well. Four days ago, I had my dentist appointment at four in the afternoon. It took them 13 minutes at least before they call my name. I am so thankful that  I brought my Nook with so I can read a book while waiting.

As always, I get scared the moment I sit on that examination chair. My nerves took awhile to calm down. After taking a deep breath which takes at least five minutes, then am fine. I also had an X-Ray done. I hate chewing that thing where they took your X-ray. It is so big and hurt my mouth. I have no choice because it does not take longer.

Overall, I am happy that this Mama has no cavity. I just need to take extra effort to clean my upper left gums. I know it is hard to reach. How about you? Did you went to the dentist recently?

Working in a nursing home does not prevent me either from some residents that are sick. Prevention will keep me from not catching any virus from work and bring it at home ans shared it with my family. I am so glad that they closed the old Walmart and opened a Super Walmart. The closest Walmart is eight minutes drive from where I live.

I bought Multi For Her plus Omega-3s. This is an adult gummies. There are 100 gummies in a bottle. The gummies are natural fruit flavors like lemon, orange and strawberry. You need to take two gummies with a meal. I love that has many vitamins that I needed. I also bought Chewable C. It comes with two bottles. It has 60 tablets in each bottle. It has orange and other natural flavors. You can chew one tablet. It is easy to chew. I also bought the Fish Oil. I love eating fish. It has 100 softgels in a bottle. You take two softgels. You need to take these supplements with a meal. Fish Oil will help you support a healthy heart. Who does not want a healthy heart, right? Interview with the author:

  1. do you balance your time between being a mom and being a writer?

I believe in quality time vs. quantity time. So when I am with my children I try to be truly present with them. I write and edit when they are busy at school or while waiting in the car during gymnastics practice. I take an hour in between volunteering in a kindergarten classroom and seeing a client at work. Prioritizing is important. I get up early to write before the weekend gets busy with practices and birthday parties.  Sometimes I have to make a choice. Do I finish my book or do the dishes? It’s not always easy.

  1. Do you have another profession besides writing?

Yes, I love working as a Counselor and Play Therapist. I have a private practice and I have been working with adults, adolescents, children, and families for over eleven years. I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which I use to treat Depression, Anxiety, and Trauma.  I also specialize in treating traumatized children. I have a bumper sticker that says “MY WORK IS CHILD’S PLAY”, which I absolutely love.

  1. What are some interesting and/or quirky things you like to do?

I love music. Going to Rock Concerts is one of my most favorite things to do. I play the guitar and love to paint. Lately, I have really enjoyed making Kumihimo jewelry. I have always been crazy about anything with leopard print. It must be the wild side in me. I have so many things with leopard print; from clothes, to purses, to phone cases and shoes. Finally, I have always loved the water. I swear I was a mermaid before.

  1. What is your next project?

My next project is a fictional fantasy dealing with spirituality. It is a young adult book. I work with many adolescents so I was drawn to this genre. I have really enjoyed fiction and creating my own fantasy world. I sense some vampires coming.

  1. There are many books out there about healing from loss and personal growth, what makes yours different?

I was spiritually inspired to share from my knowledge as a therapist and suicide loss survivor. I lost my husband, the father of my children to suicide. While I was sharing my heartbreaking story I had a nice surprise. I found a connection between my healing journey, my grief, my tears and water. I started rhyming, laughing, and having fun. The messages I received while writing weren’t just for me, they were for everyone. We can all overcome profound tragedy and learn to heal each other because we are all connected.

  1. Do you ever get writer’s block? What helps you overcome it?

There have been times I felt stuck in my writing. I have found that it helps to do a short meditation before every writing session. It helps clear out my mind. If I am still stuck and a blank page is staring at me I pick a topic and start doing circle drawings. I write about what is keeping me stuck. It usually has to do with anger or some form of self sabotage. Sometimes we need the power of curse words to move past our blocks.

  1. What is the scariest thing you have ever done?

I have gone sky diving and I have snorkeled with sharks. I have to say putting my personal story out there for the world to read has been the most terrifying thing I have ever done. I am pretty adventurous, I don’t mind heights and I love big scary roller coasters.  However, I tend to be a very private person, so sharing the loss of my husband to suicide was not easy for me.

Finally my Summer Babe is milk allergy free

I am so happy and so excited for my Summer Babe. Finally after ten years, she is now milk allergy free. She passed her milk challenge without having hives and feel itchy yesterday as her allergy appointment. She has come along way. It is about time for my Summer Babe to enjoy eating food without having milk allergy.

 photo Milk challenge_zpsfoksfqvu.jpg

I took her out from school yesterday at noon since her appointment is at 1:15. We went back to the house and had lunch. We left the house at 12:30. It takes me at least 30 minutes drive to get there at the doctors. Yesterday was so traffic. The town workers are fixing a road which leads to a traffic. Great thing is, we leave early. We got there at the doctor’s at 1:05. We still have ten minutes waiting for her actual appointment. She was called after few minutes.

 photo Milk challenge A_zpsbaudnsw1.jpg

The wait is long after they took her weight, height and blood pressure. We waited at least 20 minutes inside before the milk challenge started after some of the questions. I loved that her doctor is so excited as much as we do. She really wants my Summer Babe to pass this milk challenge. We brought this  strawberry milk with us as my Summer Babe loves the strawberry flavor.

She started drinking half a teaspoon. The doctor checked on her after ten minutes. She then gave her one teaspoon and checked on her 15 minutes later. She then took one tablespoon and checked her after 20 minutes. She gave her two tablespoons and checked her after 30 minutes. The waiting is really long. I also checked her if she has hives on her face, so far, so good, her face is cleared.

What did we do while waiting? We already know that the waiting takes forever. She brought her Math homework with her, her Kindle and earphones. She  even took many selfies while waiting for the result. We had a girl talk. I let her used my cellphone. I also have a Nook with me so  I can read but feel so sleepy.

After two 2/12 hours, her doctor told us that finally she is now milk allergy free. The three of us were so happy and so exited for her. The doctor said it is about time. Thank you God for answering our prayers. One allergy down and one to go. She is now has the peanut allergy left. I hope and pray that the result with be amazing like her milk challenge test. She has a peanut skin test next month. She also needs a blood work done.

We also had a note that she is now milk allergy free for the school to give it to the nurse. She said she wants pizza for dinner. Pizza it is then.

Smart Stuff is the best sunscreen you can apply to your body

Summer is always my favorite season. It is because it reminds me of my native country the Philippines. I know summer sometimes it gets too brutally warm. What I LOVE about summer is? You can wear tanks tops, shorts or skirts, flip-flops or sometimes barefoot while walking the backyard. The worst part is I get too dark because I have a dark skin.

 photo Smartstuff sunscreen_zpsgdkxnxah.jpg
I do not worry about all those things as long as I am applying the sunscreen, right? Do you know what is the best sunscreen to apply to your body? It is the Smart Stuff sunscreen. Why? It is because the lotion is odorless. It has mineral based sunscreen that is perfect for face and body. It has SPF30 but wish it is more higher. It has UVA/UVB protection. It is water-resistant at least for 40 minutes. It has no synthetic chemical. It blocks the sun and protects your face and body.

 photo Smartstuff sunscreen A_zpsiypepy9v.jpg
I LOVE to watch my family swim in our pool. I LOVE to swim when the sun is not really hot. I prefer to swim around six. I also LOVE to read books while watching my kids. I am protected at the same time enjoying the sun.

 photo Smartstuff sunscreen B_zpsywcgaiyq.jpg
How about you? Have you try using Smart Stuff sunscreen yet? You should if you are looking for a new sunscreen to use for you and your family. I highly recommend this sunscreen. You only need to apply little amount especially on your face. I applied big amount because I am so excited and my face turned really white.

By the way, you can click their Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Instagram and Pinterest for more updates and healthy tips for your and your family.

I received the sunscreen free from being a member of Brand Backer in exchange of my honest review.

My son’s braces

It has been few months since my son had his braces. At first he does not like the idea of getting braces. He has no choice as his teeth is not straight. He has over bite as well just like his Grandma. We have to grab the opportunity while his Daddy has a dental insurance for now. He will retire in few years and we will lose the dental insurance.

 photo braces_zpsaxdqcqa6.jpg

My son visit the dentist every month to adjust his braces. Sometimes it takes shorter and sometimes his appointment takes longer. This is his recent photo while having a new haircut. Does he look adorable? He grew up too fast.

How to keep your guitar play at long distance

My Mom-in-law used to be so healthy and active. Now, even single step she cannot breath. She needs to take a rest and catch her breath. She is carrying an oxygen with her every time. I know it is hard for my Dad-in-law watching his wife suffering. In their home Mom-in-law has long cables so the oxygen can reach from their office room to the living room. Like a musical instrument, you need this accessory so you can play or practice a long distance.

How to keep your guitar safe

Just like our body, we need our musical instrument safe as well. For instance, if you have a guitar, you need the stratocaster pickguard to keep your guitar safe from any scratch while not playing. Just like our body,we need to rest, exercise, eat vegetables and meat to keep our body in great shape. We cannot keep our musical instrument when you are exhausted and cannot play when you do not have the energy to strum it. By buying this accessory, it is the best way to keep it safe while not playing it.
